Hyderabad, August 08: Telugu Desam president N Chandrababu Naidu today welcomed all the former leaders who came back into the party fold again.
Speaking at a function held to admit M Satyanarayana, who had contested the Mankondur Assembly seat on PRP ticket, and his followers into the TDP, Naidu alleged that those who were joining the Congress were doing so for the sake of money. But those who wanted to serve the people were joining the TDP, he claimed.
He said the chief minister pushed the State’s economy into a mess. The TDP government had improved the State’s economy.
After five years of rule, the chief minister was now telling the people that the government had no money to spend, Naidu criticised. As the chief minister was unable to concentrate on pressing issues like drought, he was engineering defections from Opposition parties, Naidu alleged.
Meanwhile, addressing a press conference party leader K Yerran Naidu demanded that Srikakulam district be named after Gouthu Latchanna. As this year was Lachanna’s centenary year, the government should consider changing the name of Srikakulam district, he said and cited the example of Nellore district being named after Potti Sriramulu and Ongole after Tanguturi Prakasam.
On the allegations of sale of surplus lands by Minister Silpa Mohan Reddy in Kurnool district, Yerran Naidu demanded that the minister be dropped from the Cabinet.
