Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has defended the decision to suspend the TDP MLAs for the entire budget session of the State Legislative Assembly.
Speaking in the House, the Chief Minsiter alleged that the TDP members came to the House only with the intention to disrupt the proceedings. He said use of unparliamentary words and continuous uproar was intolerable. He said that the government was not afraid of facing criticism by the opposition parties. However, the TDP MLAs were disturbing the House only to gain publicity.
The Chief Minister said that by showing disrespect to the National Anthem, some MLAs have brought shame to the entire Telangana State. Reacting to the request of Leader of the Opposition K Jana Reddy to review the decision on suspension of TDP MLAs, he said that there was no urgency to do so. He said that the TDP MLAs should first feel apologetic on their behaviour.
Meanwhile, Legislative Affairs Minister T Harish Rao too has defended the decision and said there were precedents wherein legislators were suspended for longer periods. Citing instances, he said in Maharashtra State, five Congress MLAs were suspended for two years. (INN)
