New Delhi, April 27: Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit today flagged off six mobile health units to cater to the needs of the slum population in Delhi.
NGO Save the Children in partnership with six other NGOs today launched the six mobile health vans that will target 60 slum clusters with a population of nine lakh.
“I urge you all to take advantage of this new initiative,” said Dikshit while addressing a gathering in the Okhla area of the city. The chief minister also emphasised on the need for maintaining clean habits in day-to-day life.
These vans will be supported with testing facilities like blood tests and will also have a doctor and a nurse each.
“The idea is that no woman or child in Delhi should be deprived of health facilities,” said Harpal Singh, Chairperson India, Save the Child.
Each van will visit two slum clusters daily.
