CM extends last date for payment of Property Tax

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has accepted the proposal of GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar to extend the last date for payment of Property Tax till August 31.

According to the GHMC, about 4 Lakh people have paid Property Tax during 2014-15 up to June 30. The total amount collected is Rs 266 crore. On June 30 alone, more than 42,000 people have paid Rs 62 crore towards Property Tax.

This year’s tax is more than Rs 173 crore compared to June 2013, which was only Rs 93 crore.

The Last date for payment of current year first half year tax was June 30. However, in view of elections, the message could not be sent to all tax payers. Hence, the GHMC Commissioner has submitted a proposal to the Government for extending this offer till August 31. Accepting the proposal, the Chief Minister has extended the date.

All the tax payers have been asked to utilise this opportunity and pay their tax before August 31 without penalty. Penalty of two per cent per month will be levied to those tax payers who pay their tax after 1st September 2014. (INN)
