CM exhorts to immunize children against polio

Hyderabad, January 23: Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Sunday administered pulse polio drops to children below five years of age at the Camp Office.

Mr Kiran Kumar Reddy said that about 1 crore children between the ages of 0 to 5 years are being administered the polio drops to children in the pulse polio drive programme. The Chief Minister added that this is being done in every nook and corner of the state.

The pulse polio drops are administered to protect children from polio and consequent disability, he said. This will be done for four days, Mr Kiran Kumar Reddy said.

He added that on the second and third day, each and every house will be visited and polio drops will be administered to the children.

The second phase of the programme is on February 27 this year.

The Chief Minister asked the parents to ensure that the polio drops are administered to their children to protect them from permanent disability.

Health Minister DL Ravindra Reddy, Agriculture Minister YS Vivekananda Reddy, Revenue Minister N Raghuveera Reddy, Housing Minister Kanna Lakshminarayana, Marketing Minister Mukesh Goud, Minorities Welfare Minister Syed Ahmedullah, 20-Point Programme Committee Chairman Tulasi Reddy, Mayor Banda Karthika Reddy, Principal Secretary (Health) PV Ramesh, health and family welfare commissioner Y Srilakshmi and others graced the occasion.
