Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Friday directed the Irrigation Department Officials to release water to Krishna Delta—West Godavari, Guntur, Prakasam and Krishna districts– immediately to raise the seed beds by the farmers.
Reviewing the reservoir levels of Krishna basin with the Major Irrigation Minister Sudhershan Reddy, Principal Secretaries of Irrigation S K Joshi, Ajoyendra Pyal, Aravinda Reddy and other officials at Secretariat, Kiran Kumar Reddy asked the officials to coordinate the release of water by the Irrigation and Revenue Departments in view of the low levels of water in Nagarjuna Sagar and Prakasam barrage.
The Chief Minister also asked the officials to ensure to protect the seed beds till the rains received and levels in the reservoirs increased. Meanwhile the Indian Meteorology Department officials informed that there is likelihood of good rains in Southern Peninsula in the coming days.
The officials also informed that waters for Godavari and Vamshadhara deltas had already been released and is being monitored carefully. Inflows started into river Godavari, they added.
