CM directs officials to prepare proposals for new rail lines in state

Hyderabad, January 19: The Chief Minister, Mr Kiran Kumar Reddy, on Wednesday directed the officials concerned to prepare proposals for new railway lines to be presented to the Railway Minister for inclusion in new Railway Budget.

The Chief Minister held a meeting with the officials concerned and reviewed the status of railway lines which were announced by the Railway Ministry in the budget.

Speaking at Secretariat Media Point after the meeting, the Minister for Transport, Mr Botsa Satyanarayana, said that the Chief Minister sought information from the officials whether the announced railway projects for the State in the Railway Budget were implemented. The Chief Minister also instructed the officials to get the proposals of the State ready for the next Railway budget. The Chief Minister would represent to the Railway Minister on the status of announced railway lines during his two-day sojourn in Delhi, he added.

The Minister regretted that some of the announced railway lines for the State were yet to be sanctioned. The meeting also discussed modernization of the Tirupati railway station, Kazipet Coach Factory and RoBs.

On the version of the railway authorities that non-allocation of land by the State government for railway lines caused delay in the implementation, the Minister agreed that the State government has responsibility to provide land to the railways for new railway lines. Survey would be conducted for the purpose, he added.

Reacting to the reported call of the TRS Chief, Mr K Chandrasekhara Rao, to disrupt the “Rachchabanda” programme, the Minister said that the programme would benefit the common people. He said that they should pass a resolution demanding separate Telangana State instead of disrupting the Rachchabanda programme.
