The Chief Minister Mr. Kiran Kumar Reddy today directed for restoration of maximum possible power supply to all sectors by reducing the load relief.
Due to several measures taken by the State Government, the Chief Minister today directed the Officials to reduce the Electricity Load Relief and increase power supply to all sectors. It may be stated here that the demand has also come down due to fall in temperature and onset of monsoon.
The CMO Officials briefed the latest power position in the State, this morning at Secretariat.
Following directions from the Chief Minister, it is decided to increase power supply to 18 hours in rural areas and load relief will be reduced from 12 hours to 6 hours only. For Mandal Headquarters, Towns and Municipalities, the load relief will be only for 2 hours in two spells. There will be 24 hours power supply in Hyderabad, Tirupati, Visakhapatnam, Warangal and District Headquarters and Corporations. Supply will be increased from 66 to 80 per cent for all Industries from 15th of this month.
To improve the electricity supply in the State, several short term and mid-term measures are being taken. Short term measures taken to overcome power crisis—1,250 MW is being purchased. This electricity is currently flowing into the system. Under Mid-term measures—550 MW will be available from 16th June, 2013 to 15th June of 2016 from Corporate Power.
The Chief Minister has also asked the Officials to take all measures to avert any power cuts from June 2013 to May 2014 by advance planning and taking into account the demand from all sectors and availability of electricity from all sources.(NSS)
