CM denies implicating TDP MLA

Hyderabad, June 29: Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy informed the TDP delegation which met him at his camp office Sunday that the CID probe was ordered into the allegations of rape and murder of a nursing student allegedly by TDP MLA TV Rama Rao only to ascertain the facts.

He said investigation into the allegations against the MLA was not confined to the State. Some information had to come from Kerala. That was why the government ordered the CID probe, he explained.

He said the government agreed to CID probe when the officials suggested it. “My government had no political ill intentions to book cases against any Dalit leader.

We are trying to bring the facts out. The question of registering false cases does not arise,’’ the chief minister asserted.

The CID was a non-partisan agency and the Opposition should repose faith in it, Reddy said and advised TDP leaders not to politicise the issue. “The probe will be completed soon and the facts will come out. Be patient,’’ he said.

The chief minister recalled that the Congress earned the reputation of being pro-Dalit and that which never troubled Dalits.

“My family members had even married Dalits 60 years ago. Do you have such history?’’ Reddy countered the TDP leaders.
