CM denies Congress role in Jagan’s arrest

Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy on Monday denied the role of Congress party in the arrest of YSR Congress party president Jagan Mohan Reddy in the disproportionate assets case.

Addressing a press conference at the State Secretariat, the Chief Minister said that the CBI investigation and Jagan’s arrest happened on the directions of the Andhra Pradesh High Court and the State or Central Governments have no role to play in the CBI investigation or the judicial processes. “The YSR party people are trying to take political advantage out of this investigation and trying to blame the Congress party, which is totally false and Congress party condemn it,” he said.

The Chief Minister said that it was only because of the Congress party, Sonia Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi that YS Rajashekara Reddy attained the heights as a leader. “He was nourished by the Congress party to take the leadership for over 20-25 years in different capacities,” he said.

“Forgetting whatever the Congress party has did to Y S Rajshekhar Reddy and the family, it is unfortunate that they are trying to take political mileage out of the unfortunate death of YSR and at the same time YSR Party is trying to blame the Congress party. The Congress Party condemn these acts of YSR party,” Kiran Kumar Reddy said.

Further, Kiran Kumar Reddy reminded that it was YSR, who as the Chief Minister ordered a CBI probe when Jagan’s name was dragged in the murder case of TDP leader Paritala Ravi. He said at that point of time YSR family or others did not blame the Congress party. He asked if the CBI investigation was impartial during YSR’s regime, then why his family members were holding Congress party responsible for probe against Jagan’s illegal assets.

“The CBI is doing their job and there Jagan has to answer and show them whatever they are asking as per the directions of the High Court,” the Chief Minister said.

Regarding the arrest of former Excise Minister Mopidevi Venkataramana Rao, the Chief Minister said that in his personal opinion he would come out clean from all the charges leveled against him by the CBI.
