Karimnagar, October 17: Telangana Congress Steering Committee convener K Keshava Rao on Sunday warned that the government would face serious consequences for illegal arrest of elected representatives during the Rail Roko agitation.
Talking to media persons after meeting MP Ponnam Prabhakar, former minister T Jeevan Reddy and other leaders who were arrested during Rail Roko, at Karimnagar Jail, Keshava Rao alleged that the state government was not acting democratically towards people’s elected representatives and wants to dilute the agitation by resorting to illegal arrests. He warned that the agitation would become revolutionary if the government did not stop suppressive methods.
Keshava Rao alleged that Kiran Kumar Reddy hatched a conspiracy to incite violence in the agitation. He said that using police forces, all efforts were made to provoke the Telangana activists. However, the activists did not fall into the trap and continued to protest peacefully.
Demanding lifting of all cases and unconditional apology from government for foisting cases, he stated all betrayers would erode in the Telangana agitation.
Slamming the Chief Minister for his indifferent attitude on statehood agitation, MP G Vivek said the Telangana leaders were determined to achieve the state and ready to sacrifice anything for the cause of Telangana.
