CM Confident Of Solving Power Crisis Soon

Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Tuesday exuded confidence that the ongoing power crisis would be solved soon as there was only a 20 per cent shortage of power in the State.

Speaking at a function organised in Ravindra Bharathi in connection with “Rajiv Gandhi Akshay Urja Diwas” (Renewable Energy Day), the Chief Minister said power generation has come down by 50 million units due to inadequate rainfall and non-availability of gas. The government was addressing the issue and giving power subsidy to the tune of Rs 5,000 crore, he added.

Stating that coal and other natural resources were fast depleting, the Chief Minister stressed the need to save energy and promote renewable energy sources. While power production decreased, energy consumption has gone up substantially, he added. He also administered a pledge to school children, who were present on the occasion, that they would promote renewable energy.

Ministers Dr J Geeta Reddy, B Saraiah, G Prasad Kumar, Mukesh Goud and several officials participated in the program.
