CM condoles death of veteran director Balachander

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has extended his deepest condolences to the family and well-wishers of K. Balachander on his passing.

The Chief Minister added that his death is an immeasurable loss to the film fraternity.

Stating that he is deeply saddened about the veteran filmmaker’s death, the Chief Minister recalled Balachander’s distinct film-making style and hard-hitting social themes which highlighted the problems of the middle-class.

The Chief Minister remembered that Vizag was a place Balachander admired. “It is unfortunate that he passed away without seeing the transformed City of his dreams,” the Chief Minister said. Not only was Balanchander a task master, he was also a great human being who started his career as a screenwriter and rose to become one of South India’s ace directors.

Apart from making films in Telugu and Tamil, he also made an entry into Bollywood with Ek Duje Ke Liye, a remake of his own film and one of the greatest Telugu films – Maro Charithra.

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has also expressed his condolences over the demise of Balachander. (INN)
