Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Thursday gave specific directions to the officials for better management of Municipal Solid Waste and Sewage, Plastic Wastes, Bio-medical Wastes, Hazardous Wastes, e-waste etc., He said that adequate staff would be recruited in the Pollution Control Board.
The Chief Minister reviewed the functioning and issues of the State Pollution Control Board with ministers and top officials at the State Secretariat. He directed that after giving one more notice, fresh tenders should be called for projects to treat municipal solid wastes. He also stressed the need to protect the lakes in the GHMC areas, particularly the Hussainsagar lake.
Environment and Forests Minister Satrucherla Vijayarama Raju, Municipal Administration Minister M Maheedhar Reddy, Pollution Control Board Chairman Janaki Kondapi, MA&UD Department Principal Secretary Sam Bob and other officials attended the meeting.
Officials informed the Chief Minister that the SEIAA has given 536 Environmental Clearances from 2007 to May this year and 328 clearances from June to till date. They also furnished the statistics and status of various environment projects being implemented by the government.
