Hyderabad, July 07: Chief minister K Rosaiah defended the decision to restrict the monsoon session of the Assembly to seven days. At an informal interaction with mediapersons at his chambers in the Assembly after the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) meeting, he said since some opposition parties like the PRP and MIM were not keen on sitting for 10 days, it was to limit it for seven days. He said the two parties instead wanted longer business hours each day.
He said he has asked ministers from Telangana not to ignore campaigning for the bypolls not at the same time attending the Assembly session. “I want them to attend Assembly when important issues figure,” he said.
e pointed out that the Opposition had wanted a discussion on seven issues but finally it had been agreed to discuss only three: the Babhali and Almatti projects, farmers’ problems and price rise.
The CM will leave for Delhi after the Assembly session to attend a chief ministers’ conference called by Union finance minister Pranab Mukherjee to discuss changes to be brought about in VAT and get back to Hyderabad in the night. He will make another visit to Delhi on July 14 to attend a conference of CMs to discuss law and order called by Union home minister P Chidambaram.
