CM to attend Mahankali Bonalu on July 29: Talasani

Hyderabad: Bonalu festival will be celebrated at Ujjaini Mahankali Temple in Secunderabad on July 29, Animal Husbandry Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav said today.

The minister visited the temple today and held a review meeting with the officials. Speaking on the occasion, Talasani said Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao will be attending the ritual at the temple at 11.30 am. Some 2,000 women will come in a procession carrying traditional Bonalu and present them to the presiding deity. Elaborate arrangements were being made for the mega festival to be thronged by a large number of people.

“We have specially prepared Bonam, Nose Ring, Bottu and a Sword made of gold to be presented to the goddess on that day. Endowment Minister A Indrakaran Reddy, Excise Minister T Padma Rao Goud and MP Kavitha will present these ornaments to the goddess”, he said. He also said silk clothes will be presented to the goddess in the temple premises.

The minister said the GHMS was spending Rs 51 lakh for providing necessary facilities, including barricading, traffic regulation, parking, sign boards, power supply, sanitation, LED screens, cultural programs at eight places, drinking water in queue lines, 3500 halogen lights, 500 sanitation workers, 3000 police personnel for security and 114 CC cameras for surveillance and a control room at nearby police station. He also asked the officials to ensure that the devotees coming to the temple should get hassle-free darshan. Those present were DCP Sumathi and other officials. (NSS)
