Chief minister Kiran Kumar Reddy assured former Minority Welfare minister Mohammed Ali Shabbir that he will direct officials to ensure Urdu inscription on signboards along with Telugu in all government departments and private institutions in Hyderabad and Secunderabad.
Mohammed Ali Shabbir called on chief minister on Tuesday and enlightened him regarding the raids made by officials of labour department and notices issued by them to the shop owners in connection with Telugu signboards. He told that majority of the shop owners in old city do not know Telugu.
He asserted that Urdu is the second official language so officials of labour department should make it compulsory to write Urdu on the signboards along with Telugu.
