Kurnool, October 12: “Floods are unfortunate and on seeing the condition here I am able to visualise the trouble and agony you had faced,’’ Chief Minister K Rosaiah has said. He was speaking to the flood victims in the city. He reassured them that the government will provide all necessary help to them.
He reached Kurnool this evening and consoled the flood-hit people.After visiting Kallur and Panchalingala areas in the city, he held a meeting with the district officials at the local State Guest House.
The Chief Minister directed them to ensure that there was no delay in providing rehabilitation, financial aid and making other arrangements for the victims.
Earlier, addressing people in flood-hit areas, he said he has visited the place only to see the existing conditions and know people’s thoughts and agony. He said he would stand by them and share their suffering in the troubled times.He said the government will reconstruct the houses that collapsed during the floods with Rs 68,200. The government will extend all help to the victims, he promised.Farmers will be given fertilisers and seeds on subsidy.
People living in low-lying areas will be given constructed houses in upland areas.
He claimed the government was paying special attention to removal of slush from Kurnool city.
He lauded the officials and people’s representatives for their efforts in connection with rescuing flood victims. “It is because of their efforts only that there are people living in the place still,’’ he said.
Stating that statistics revealed Mantralayam was submerged in Tungabhadra floods 348 years ago just as it happened now, he said he was praying to the god that there should be no floods of this magnitude for the next 500 years.
Kurnool Mayor Raghurami Reddy was overcome with emotion while briefing the chief minister about the flood situation.
Union Minister Jaipal REddy, PCC chief D Srinivas, State Ministers Dokka Manikyavara Prasad, Silpa Mohan Reddy, Dharmana Vara Prasad, MPs Kotla Surya Prakash Reddy, SPY Reddy and MLAs accompanied him.
