CM asks Transco to save standing crops

Hyderabad, October 04: Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy asked the transport department to see that more contract and private buses ply on the roads immediately.

The Chief Minister said that at least 1000 contract buses should ply on the roads to help the common people, particularly in view of the ensuing festive season. The officials informed that RTC is plying 500 buses already in the city. This is in addition to the 650 contract and private buses being operated between Hyderabad and other important cities like Bangalore, Nagpur, Pune, Chennai, Mumbai, Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam etc.

The Chief Minister was talking to the senior officials at the review meeting he held on the latest situation arising out of the strike in Telangana along with Deputy Chief Minister Damodar Rajanarasimah and R&B Minister Dharamana Prasada Rao, Chief Secretary Pankaj Dwivedi and other top officers at the Secretariat on Monday.

The Chief Minister today gave categorical instruction to AP Transco that crops should not be allowed to withered away at any places. When officials said that there are reports from some mandals from districts like Nalgonda, RR and Mahaboobnagar of some damage to crops, the Chief Minister told the AP Transco officials “This should not happen. Take special care in these areas and wherever required cut power in urban areas and see that crops are not allowed to dry at any cost”.

As far as power situation is concerned, the Energy sector is making all out efforts to see that power supply is maintained at the present level. Even amidst the present crisis, 225 million units are being supplied every day. Out of this 40 mu are from Hydro power generation, 80 mu are from thermal units, 120 from Central grids, 36 mu from gas-based units, 17 mu are from purchases from outside and 6 mu from non-conventional energy. About 65,000 metric tonnes of coal was produced yesterday (Sunday) in Singareni Collieries and same availability today also, the officials informed.

Officials explained to him that subsidised rice are already stocked in all ration shops in the State for distribution to white card holders for October. The Chief Minister told the Civil Supplies department to stock subsidised rice for the month of November and December in all ration shops in time to be distributed at Rs.1 a kg. to the white card holders. He also asked the officials to monitor the godown space as procurement season is fast approaching.

The Health officials explained that emergency services are running normally. However there is decline of in-patient level including teaching hospitals in view of the festival season and lack of transport. Panchayatraj department officials said that all sanitation works are going on smoothly.

The Chief Minister was informed that there was 75 per cent attendance in the Secretariat though in Telangana districts it is low. Finance department reported that wherever bills have been received, salaries are paid.
