L&T Metro Rail Hyderabad Ltd Chairman YM Deosthalee and it’s Managing Director VB Gadgil called on the Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Thursday and apprised him about the progress of the Hyderabad Metro Rail project. Explaining that the project has picked up good speed, they have informed him that works were in good progress both in Stage-I (Nagole-Mettuguda; 8km) and Stage-II areas (Miyapur-S.R.Nagar; 11 km).

The Pier (pillar) construction works have also been commenced in Stage-V area at LB Nagar. Depot works at Uppal and Miyapur and casting yard works at Uppal are also progressing at a brisk pace, they informed him.

Responding to the advice of the Chief Minister to further speed up the project, Deosthalee told him that the L&T would mobilise more machinery and manpower if additional work fronts were given to them in the Metro Rail corridors.

Promising full support of the government to the prestigious Hyderabad Metro Rail project, the Chief Minister assured them that the Special Task Force (STF) headed by the Chief Secretary would meet more frequently and resolve any contentious issues. He instructed Hyderabad Metro Rail MD NVS Reddy, who was present in the meeting, to pursue the issue with the Traffic Police, GHMC and utility organisations to make more work fronts available for L&T.
Appreciating that traffic is moving better in the Metro Rail work areas in Hyderabad when compared to other cities, Kiran Kumar Reddy complimented HMR on the road widening and other facilitation works and the mass plantation drive undertaken by it.

He advised the HMR MD to continue these programs further. He also directed the L&T officials to maintain the roads in the barricaded areas in good condition and minimise inconvenience to the road users where Metro Rail works are going on.
