Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao has directed the officials to purchase energy from the open market to overcome the shortage.
KCR on Monday held a meeting with the senior officials of Energy Department and reviewed the status of power production in the State. The meeting was also attended by GENCO CMD Prabhakar Rao and other senior officials.
The Chief Minister said the Hydel production was likely to be hit due to low storage levels in Nagarjuna Sagar, Srisailam and other reservoirs. Therefore, he said special attention should be paid on increasing the thermal production. Further, he said energy should be purchased from open market to bridge the demand-supply gap. Besides ensuring adequate supply to the farm sector, 24 hours supply should be ensured for industries, he said.
KCR directed the officials to review the power supply position on daily basis and avoid power cuts. (INN)
