Hyderabad, February 20: Chief Minister K Rosaiah has appealed to the Students Joint Action Committee (JAC) to withdraw its call for Chalo Assembly programme tomorrow.
Speaking to media persons in the lobbies of the Assembly today, he said that though the students want to take out a rally peacefully, there was a likelihood of antisocial elements taking advantage of the demonstration and resorting to violence. He wanted the students to leave the issue of bifurcation of the State to Justice BN Srikrishna Committee and to the political parties.
“I can understand how the students are feeling. I am neither supporting their demand nor opposing it. As Srikrishna panel, which has been constituted has already started its work, it is better for the students to leave it to the committee,’’ he said.
The Chief Minister stated that the committee would consult all political parties and had written a letter in this regard to their leaders. It would tour various parts of the State, he informed.
When asked about how the Government is preparing for tomorrow’s Chalo Assembly call, the Chief Minister said it is the job of the police to ensure law and order and said they would do a good job of it.
Rosaiah wanted the students not to get involved in agitations and lose their academic year. He appealed to the parents to take care of thier children’s future by counselling them against participating in the agitations.
