CLP refutes Oppn allegations

Hyderabad, July 02: The Congress Legislature Party (CLP) today refuted the allegations of the Opposition parties, including those made by the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), that the Advisory Committee on Public Security and Safety, headed by Rajya Sabha Member K V P Ramachandra Rao, was extra Constitutional.

Addressing a press conference here, Government Chief Whip M Bhatti Vikramarka and Council Members R Padmaraju and G Rudraraju alleged TDP President N Chandrababu Naidu was making allegations without awareness on public safety.

Mr Vikramarka said the committee was appointed by the government with experts as members only to advise the government on public safety. There was no monetary benefit to the members and the Chairman on discharging their duties, he added.

Mr Padmaraju said the committee had no executive powers and it would only give advice to the government on public safety. He alleged the Opposition parties — CPI(M), CPI and TDP — were trying to politicise the issue and mislead the public.
