Hyderabad, July 17: The Andhra Pradesh Congress Legislature Party (CLP) today objected to the remarks against the Congress party and its leaders made allegedly by opposition Telugu Desam Party President N Chandrababu Naidu calling the people to ”break the head” of the Congress in the ensuing Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) elections.
Addressing a press conference here, State Finance Minister K Rosaiah said Mr Naidu was making allegations against the Congress party and its leaders due to frustration as the people had rejected the TDP in the recent elections to the state assembly. It would be extremely difficult for the TDP and Mr Naidu to ”break the head” of the Congress as the party had gained the confidence of the people in view of various developmental and welfare schemes initiated by the Congress Government during the last five years, he added.
Mr Rosaiah also recalled that when the Congress party was defeated in 1983 after N T Rama Rao swept the polls, it had taken the people’s verdict in good spirit and did not make any remarks against any political party for the defeat.
”Though the people had rejected the TDP and Mr Naidu, he had not learnt any lesson despite opposition from his own partymen about his leadership. Now he has started criticising his allies for the defeat in the recent elections. Mr Naidu is suffering from ‘power flu’ and there is no treatment for this type of disease,” Mr Rosaiah remarked.
He alleged that Mr Naidu, who grabbed power from his father-in-law and former Chief Minister late N T Rama Rao, ”lost his mental balance when he lost power in the elections.”
