Congress Legislative Party (CLP) has found fault with the TDP Chief N Chandrababu Naidu for criticizing the Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy with regard to the steps initiated by the State Government to extend help to the Neelam cyclone victims.
Speaking to the media at CLP office here on Tuesday, MLCs and Whips in Legislative Council Y Shivarami Reddy and Rudraraju Padmaraju have alleged that Chandrababu was politicizing the cyclone while visiting the affected areas. He alleged that the TDP cadre had plundered the funds in the name of victims when cyclones hit the State during Naidu’s regime.
Shivarami Reddy said that the Central team would visit the thoopan affected areas soon and the Prime Minister had already assured assistance in this regard. He said that the Centre would purchase the cotton damaged due to the rains and the dis-colored crops.
Padmaraju said that the Chief Minister had attended the Congress rally held in Delhi only on the force of party high command, and he had issued directions to the officials from Delhi itself. He alleged that Chandrababu was visiting the affected areas only for the sake of photos.
He said that the Centre has to recognize the thoopan as a national disaster and extend adequate help to the farmers. He said that the Chief Minister and PCC Chief Botcha Sathyanarayana were touring the districts affected by the cyclone. “The party and the government are on the job to extend help to the victims of the thoopan”, he said.
