Hyderabad, August 02: Charging that the petitioners, who have filed a case in the Andhra Pradesh High Court, with a plea to stay election process to 150 wards of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), belong to main Opposition Telugu Desam Party, the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) today demanded TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu to tender an unconditional apology to BC (Backward Class) voters for raising an `objection’ in respect of reservations to BCs in GHMC polls. The Opposition leader has been adopting a `dual policy’ in respect of BCs, it remarked.
Addressing a press conference at the CLP office here, ministers N Raghuveera Reddy and D Nagender who belong to BC community, demanded Chandrababu Naidu to clarify his party’s stand on `creamy layer’ in BCs and in recognising them as BC voters and facilitating them to contest elections.
The TDP petitioners, in their affidavit, have requested the Court to issue a direction to the respondents for identification of Backward Class voters after evolving appropriate criteria by excluding creamy layer, and also to notify, publish and finalize the BC voters after consideration of their objections and suggestions.
The petitioners went to the Court in accordance with directions issued by Chandrababu Naidu, they alleged.
The ministers further alleged that the TDP president was trying to `suppress’ the growth of BCs, including senior TDP member K Yerran Naidu. In spite of decision taken by several parties not to field its members for Tekkali byelection following the death of Congress MLA Revathipati, the TDP leader was trying to field either Yerran Naidu or his brother Atchhan Naidu, they added.
