CLP accuses TRS of holding assembly to ransom

Government chief whip Gandra Venkata Ramana Reddy on Tuesday condemned the Telangana Rashtra Samithi for insisting on resolution on the Telangana in the monsoon session of Assembly at a time when the Centre was making sincere efforts to resolve the issue.

Talking to media persons at the Congress Legislature Party office, Gandra Venkata Ramana Reddy said that all important public issues got diverted with the TRS members pressing for a resolution on Telangana issue and Speaker Nadendla Manohar was forced to adjourn the House without taking up any discussion on vital issues. “It is not good for the TRS to hold the Assembly to ransom at the cost of Telangana issue when the Centre was taking a decision on it by the end of this month,” he said.

At least now the TRS members should permit the House to take up healthy discussions on important issues that gripped the State. The TRS MLAs should cooperate with the Speaker in running the House smoothly, he appealed.

Responding to a few members from Telangana region expressing solidarity to ‘Telangana March’ being organised by the Telangana Political Joint Action committee, he said that it was their personal decision and the party has nothing to do it.

He also accused opposition Telugu Desam Party of not playing the role of a constructive opposition in running the House smoothly.
