Close shots from point blank range: Post-mortem report

Viquaruddin and his four associates who suspected to be part of a local terrorist organisation were shot down in Warangal district were shot from point blank range with a sophisticated weapon, revealed the post-mortem report.

According to sources, an autopsy was conducted in MGM hospital by forensic experts on Wednesday revealed that there were no bullets inside the bodies as they were fired from a close range. “The bodies bore multiple bullet injuries in the head, chest and thighs,” the report said.

It took about four hours for the forensic team, including Dr Ismail, Dr Krupal Singh, Dr Nagamohan, and Dr Raju of Kakatiya Medical College (KMC), to complete the post-mortem.

According to sources, doctors found eight bullet wounds on Viqaruddin’s body. ’Only two bullets were found in one of the victim’s body,’’ said a doctor associated with the postmortem.

Each of the victims has suffered at least five to eight bullets leading to their death on the spot which gives enough suspicion that the police opened fire on the victims from a close range.

The viscera collected during the PME would be sent to Ballistic Lab in Hyderabad with other items to find out whether they were sedated or poisoned before they were shot.

Relative of one of the slain suspected demanded that the state government should register murder cases against the policemen in a fake encounter. “They were handcuffed and they never tried to escape,” he said,
