Clinton recommends $25 mln US aid to Libyan rebels

Washington, April 21: Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has recommended $25 million in U.S. aid for Libyan rebels that would not include arms, the State Department said on Wednesday.

“Secretary Clinton … has recommended the president authorize up to $25 million in nonlethal commodities and services,” said State Department spokesman Mark Toner.

“This is not a blank check. This is not $25 million in actual cash or money. It’s actually in goods and services that would be drawn down from items already in government stocks that correspond with the needs of the TNC (Transitional National Council),” he said.
