Thane: A grade-I clerk of the Raigad district collectorate was arrested for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 25,000, Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials said today.
Ravidas Jadhav (42), who also holds an additional charge as circle officer Revdanda, initially demanded Rs 10,000 for carrying out amendments to the 7/12 extract (a revenue document of land ownership), Deputy Superintendent of Police, Raigad unit of ACB, Balkrishna Sawant said.
After a written complaint on May 18, a trap was laid yesterday at the Employment Guarantee Scheme office of the Alibag tehsil and Jadhav was caught red handed while accepting Rs 25,000 as bribe, the officer said.
A case under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 was registered and investigations are underway, police said.
