Clear verdict for T-State formation: KK

Hyderabad, August 02: The Rajya Sabha member and Congress Working Committee permanent invitee, Dr K Keshava Rao, has said that the people have given a clear verdict in the by-elections reiterating their demand for separate Telangana state.

He said that he and other Telangana leaders would discuss about the formation of Telangana state with the UPA chairperson and Congress supremo, Ms Sonia Gandhi.

He also claimed that Ms Sonia Gandhi was in favour of carving out separate Telangana State.

Speaking to mediapersons at his residence here on Sunday, Dr Keshava Rao said that he never witnessed such an electoral result in his political life. He said that the movement for Telangana intensified after the December 9 statement by the Union Home Minister, Mr P Chidambaram.

Reiterating that the Congress leaders were committed over separate Telangana State, the CWC member said the Congress legislators did not resign from their posts following an assurance given by the Congress high command.

Dr Rao urged the leaders of the Rayalaseema and Andhra regions not to comment on the Telangana because it was very sensitive issue. He also pointed out that no Seemandhra leader, including the Kadapa MP, Mr Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, said that there was no need of Telangana state formation.

He strongly felt that respecting the people’s verdict in the by-elections, the Congress party would initiate steps to carve out Telangana state. The time was up for discussions and debates on the Telangana formation issue.

The Peddapalli MP, Mr Vivek, and the Warangal MLA, Mr Basavaraju Saraiah, were also present.
