Bhopal, August 20 (Pervez Bari): The Ludhiana-based International Human Rights Organisation, (IHRO), has hailed the Punjab Pollution Control Board, (PPCB)’s action of disconnecting power to the dyeing industrial units there on instructions of the Punjab government, which, in turn, has thus executed the orders, though belatedly and reluctantly, of the state high court for cleaning the Budda Nullah.
Besides this, IHRO Sikh Affairs outfit has strongly condemned the Congress Party for interfering in religious matters of the Sikhs in its effort to create a separate committee of gurdwaras in Haryana, now under the control of Shiromani Gurdwaras Parbandhak Committee, (SGPC).
IHRO chairperson D S Gill, general secretary Mohinder Singh Grewal, coordinator (legal matters) Sukhdev Singh Ramgarh Sibian and public relations secretary Inderjit Kaur, in a statement have said that it is unfortunate that certain local leaders of some parties are siding with the agitating offenders of Budda Nullah (owners of dyeing units) which amount to contempt of court.
The Human Rights NGO, a party in the Punjab and Haryana High Court PIL initiated by the High Court itself on Budda Nullah for its cleansing, has asked the erring dyeing unit holders to raise their objections in the court, instead of confronting the PPCB or its officials who are doing their duty, thereby, obeying the orders of the high court.
The IHRO has said in its communiqué that the local political leaders, in place of instigating the industrial offenders, should standby the law of the land and judiciary, and cooperate and help the NGOs involved in the work of cleansing of the Budda Nullah which has turned into a menace for not only for the people of Ludhiana but also the whole of Malwa belt.
Meanwhile, the IHRO Sikh Affairs cell led by its coordinator G S Lamba, has also called upon the people of Punjab, its political parties and Sikhs Groups worldwide to raise their unanimous voice tooth and nail against the nefarious designs of the Haryana Congress government which seems committed to divide the Sikhs in order to destabilise their political power by creating Haryana Gurdwaras Committee.
