Masjid Shaikh is located at Shaikhpet X-road which is uninhabited for the past 50 years. The path leading to the masjid is covered with bushes while a potter has set up kiln to make pots at the main gate of the masjid.
Meanwhile Siasat by publishing a number of reports regarding the masjid invited archaeological department’s attention towards the matter. Consequently archaeological department came into action and it began cleaning activity on Thursday besides removing illegal occupation of the potter.
The masjid is in very precarious condition and the minarets may fall any time. Archaeological department should take steps to whitewash and renovate the masjid so as to make it available for prayers.
