Cleaning of Hussain Sagar starts in 20 days

Mr. Neerab K. Prasad, IAS, Commissioner of Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority while addressing a gathering on the occasion of 12th anniversary of voluntary organization Forum for Better Hyderabad informed that the cleaning work of Hussain Sagar lake will commence in 20 days.

He told that the garbage dumped in the lake is spoiling its water. He invited the forum to offer its suggestions on the plans prepared by HUMDA to develop lakes in the city. He told that in this scheme participation of voluntary organisations is necessary in order to keep the city beautiful.

The meeting was presided over by the president of the forum Mr. Veda Kumar. The others who attended the meeting include Mr. Ch. Hanumantha Rao former member, planning commission Chandana Chakravarthi, convener. The March, Dr. K.L. Vyas, General Secretary FBH and O.M. Debora.

Mr. Ved Kumar in his presidential speech remarked that the Asifjahi rulers were considered the richest persons of the world but they provided many facilities for the people of Hyderabad state. Wide roads, water reservoirs, beautiful buildings are all the monuments of Asifjahi period.

The monopoly of the corporate sector is causing damage to all such things. He highlighted the aims and objectives of Forum for Better Hyderabad. He told that the Forum makes an effort to preserve the water reservoirs of the city and the archaeological monuments. He also presented the report of the functioning of the Forum during the past 12 years.

Prof. Ch. Hanumantha Rao, describing the era between 1950 and 1960 told that it was possible for the pedestrians to walk on foot to see these monuments but the traffic these days is so congested that it is difficult to walk on the roads. He stressed the need for creating public awareness for the protection of environment.
