Shiv Menon, Sunanda Pushkar’s son on Tuesday issued a statement ruling out foul play and gave a clean chit to his step father and Union Minister Shashi Tharoor.
Shiv Menon stated that Sunanda was too strong to commit suicide, the letter added that her death was an “unfortunate mix of stress, tension and wrong medication.” It further stated: “Her death was peaceful, she passed in her sleep.”
The Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), on tuesday said that Sunanda has died of poisoning and asked the police to probe the cause of poisoning, including the murder/suicide angle, who is heading the investigation.
Shiv Menon’s note also mentin that both Sunanda and Shashi Tharoor were “very much in love, despite occasional differences which they overcame.”
It stated, “I also do not believe that Shashi was capable of physically harming her, let alone the speculation that he could have taken her life.”
The “tittle-tattle” of media on his mother’s death had devastated him and prompted him to speak out, the note said.
“I think there has been enough attention drawn towards her life – let her at least rest in her passing,” Menon said.
