Classic cars showcased in Tehran

Tehran, April 29: An exhibition of classic cars has been held at Tehran’s Arg-e Azadi Cultural Complex, bringing a total of 80 antique automobiles from days gone by into the public gaze.

Various classic cars kept at Sadabad Palace Museum as well as a series of old but still dazzling French, American and German automobiles belonging to private collectors have been put on display in the event, Fars new agency reported.

The exhibition, which began on Thursday and will run through May 2, has been organized by the Automobile Club and Tourism Center of Iran as part of cultural programs that mark the National Persian Gulf Day which falls on April 30.

In addition to vintage cars on display, several motorcycles and bicycles also belonging to earlier times were showcased at the exhibit in the capital Tehran.

Meanwhile, Managing Director of Automobile Club and Tourism Center Fariborz Ansari said one of the main objectives of the event was to solve some of the problems private collectors face in terms of protective facilities, insuring their antique vehicles and preserving the classic cars of the yesteryears.

Various antique car models such as the Rolls Royce Phantom, Rolls Royce Corniche, Mercedes Benz 300 SL Convertible and Mercedes Benz 600 harked back memories of the late 60’s and early 70’s into the minds of visitors.

The visitors got the chance to see six classic police cars, namely Dodge Coronet, Range Rover, Benz 250, Benz 230, Chevrolet and Toyota Cressida.
