Classic 70s miniseries ‘Roots’ reboot in the works

‘Roots,’ the classic 1977 miniseries is undergoing a remake.

AandE Networks declared that they would be rebooting the show, which traced black family’s history from slavery on to the end of the Civil War, and the 8-episode would be aired simultaneously on The History Channel, AandE, and Lifetime in 2016, the Verge reported.

The LeVar Burton starrer show had become a huge success and a cultural phenomenon ever since it was first aired on ABC.

While shows aimed at black history like ‘Scandal,’ ‘How to Get Away with Murder,’ and movies like ’12 Years a Slave’ and ‘Django Unchained’ have all been acclaimed, it’s still uncertain how well the new ‘ Roots’ will do. (ANI)
