Class 6 student asked father to “Come In 5 Minutes”, he heard “5 Lakh Ransom” and informed police

The 11-year-old boy of class 6 who lives in Noida’s Chhijarsi area, left home for a few hours in Noida, making his parents approach the police fearing a kidnap and the “ransom” amount being Rs. 5 lakh.

He was angry over his parents for often scolding him. His father runs a grocery store and would often make him sit on the counter. The boy would often take some money from the cash box and he did the same Monday morning. He had taken Rs. 100, after which his uncle had also scolded him.”

According to a report published in Ndtv.com, he left home for school but instead, took a lift from a stranger on a motorcycle to Bisrakh in Greater Noida,

After reaching there, he roamed around for some time but was soon hungry and decided to call home. He asked a labourer for making a call from his mobile phone.

“The boy called up his father and told him he had reached Bisrakh. He asked his father to come there ‘in five minutes’ and hung up,” the police official said, adding that the mobile phone was found to be switched off afterwards.

The boy’s family alerted the Phase 3 police station soon after the call, which claimed “their child had been kidnapped and a payment of Rs. five lakh asked for his release”.

The official said, right after they received the complaint they had put the phone number on surveillance, but as it was switched off, raising the suspicion of kidnapping.

Later the phone number was switched on after some time. They located the number and reached the labourer and also found the boy roaming nearby.

“Initially it seemed to be a case of kidnapping but later, it turned out that the child had left home on his own and made the call to his parents, said Akhilesh Tripathi, Station House Officer, Phase 3 police station.

Meanwhile, the father of the boy said it turned out to be “a case of miscommunication.” No official complaint was filed in association with the event. The boy was brought back to his family members within hours.
