The offensive carried out in response to an earlier ambush by insurgents against a convoy of soldiers, also left at least two others injured in the Tasakhel area of upper Orakzai tribal region.
The injured soldiers said to be in critical condition, have been taken to a local hospital.
Sources say clashes between the two sides continue to intensify in the troubled region.

Security forces have reportedly killed dozens of militants over the past two weeks.
