Srinagar, April 16: At least six persons, including a policeman, were injured as violent clashes continued for the fourth day in bandh-hit Sopore township of North Kashmir and spread to Baramulsla and parts of the interior city today, official sources said.
The clashes were intense in Sopore town, 55 kms from here, where people are demanding a probe into the recent death of Zuberul Hussain Bhat (20), prompting police to fire warning shots, burst teargas shells and use batons to restore law and order, the sources said.
Bhat, a 11th class student, jumped into Jhelum river in the town allegedly while being chased by police during a strike called by separatists on Tuesday against conviction of six Kashmiris by a Delhi court in the 1996 Lajpat Nagar blast.
