Clash over fallen tree claims two lives

Gonda (UP), September 03: A clash between two groups over a fallen tree claimed the lives of two persons, including a woman, at a village in the district today.

Six others were injured in the clash in Bharampur village under Tarabjganj police station area, during which members of one of the groups opened fire, police said.

Superintendent of Police Ankaj Sharma said trouble started when one faction laid claim to a tree which fell down due to heavy downpour while the other group led by the woman gram prdhan (village head) objected to it claiming that the tree belonged to the ‘gram samaj’ (the village society).

As the rivals opened fire, two relatives of the gram pradhan were killed, the SP said, adding the six injured have been admitted to the district hospital.
