Tirupati, April 02: Interesting developments marked the visit of Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy to his native Chittoor district in the backdrop of the severe drubbing the ruling party received in the just concluded MLC- Local Area Authority elections.
Kiran’s arch rival Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy skipped his programmes in the district for the third consecutive time. He was conspicuously absent at the valedictory of the Chittoor District Centenary Celebrations though the other three dissident MLAs — Dr. Kuthuhalamma, Dr. Ravi and Shajahan — not only participated but were also felicitated by the Chief Minister along with the MLCs and others from the district. Local MLA C.K. Babu created a flutter when he spurned the invitation of the Chief Minister to share the dais with him. He also declined the Chief Minister’s request to give the welcome address following which the Chittoor MP, Dr. N. Sivaprasad, though belonging to the rival TDP was invited to do the job
