Civil Liberties leaders demands immediate Release of Prof. Anand Teltumbde

Hyderabad: Leaders of a number of peoples’ Organizations have demanded the immediate release of Dr B R Ambedkar’s grandson Prof Anand Thelthumbde, democratic activist, who was arrested by the Pune police at Mumbai Airport this morning and withdrawal of cases filed against him.

Addressing the media at Hyderguda NSS here today, Prof Haragopal, Prof P L Visweshwar Rao, Prof K Laxminarayana (HCU), Prof K Y Ratnam (HCU), Bandari Lakshmaiah of KNPS, N Narayana Rao of CLC, Ravichandra and Ch Prabhakar of TPF, Aravind of Virasam and others said the arrest of Prof Anand was illegal and against the democratic principles. Already CLC leaders Varavara Rao and others were arrested and kept in Eravada jail illegally. The Government was targeting democracy and democratic activists, and also the intellectuals who are fighting against its attempts to totally change the Country’s Constitution, implement Manuvada philosophy and Hindu fundamentalism, and this was unfortunate, they said.
