The city police has arrested a civil engineer hailing from Mumbai for stealing and tampering of propritery software from the computer of a reputed company. In a release here, police said, the accused, Vivek Gharad, a resident of Mumbai, was arrested on April 2 in Mumbai. On interrogation the accused confessed that he had stolen the said software from the complainant’s company while he was undergoing training in the said organization. The accused further confessed that in order to gain easy money he stole the software which was the valuable intellectual property of the the complainant’s company.
Subsequently the accused posted some video clippings of the proprietary software in www.youtube.com.
At the instance of the accused, his laptop which contains the stolen computer software source code, some DVDs containing the same for sale were seized in the presence of mediators and he was sent for judicial remand today, the release added. UNI
