A civic councillor, who had consumed poison last week at Thekkalukote in the district, died today at a private hospital in Bengaluru.
“Ashok, Ballari city corporation councillor, died at a private hospital in Bengaluru while undergoing treatment. He attempted suicide at Thekkalukote in Ballari district,” Chetan Singh Rathore, Superintendent of Police, said.
Ashok, a Congress councillor, had consumed poison on March 2, Rathore said. However, the official did not divulge the reason for Ashok’s attempt to commit suicide.
