City schools in bad shape, alleges MIM

MIM President and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi on Wednesday slammed the State Government for ignoring the government schools in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad.

Participating in the discussions during the Hyderabad District Development Review Committee meeting at Jubilee Hall here, Asaduddin Owaisi said that there were 618 Primary Schools, 180 High schools and 355 private and aided schools in the city. However, he said as many as 585 posts in Primary and 312 in Upper Primary schools were lying vacant. Further 10 posts each of Deputy Education Officers, Deputy Head Masters and Deputy Inspector of Schools were also lying vacant. Of 353 posts of Urdu teachers sanctioned earlier, only 200 were filled. He also condemned the government for not taking up the construction of toilets in 64 girls schools with a cost of Rs 45,000 each.

MIM MLC Amin-ul-Hassan Jaffri alleged that the Hyderabad District Education Officer was conspiring to shut down the Urdu schools in Hyderabad.

Hyderabad District Incharge Minister Dr J Geetha Reddy directed the Collector and DEO to look into the issues raised by city legislators and MP. (INN)
