All roads leading towards the venue of Metropolis Conference, to be held next month, would be improved on war footing basis.
In the light of the decisions taken in the coordination meeting held by Chief Secretary Dr.Rajiv Sharma on Friday for improvement of city roads for the forthcoming Metropolis Conference, GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar, HMR MD NVS Reddy and Additional Commissioner of Hyderabad Police (Traffic) Jitender jointly inspected Road No.36 and other important roads in Jubilee Hills which lead to the venue of Metropolis Conference, on Saturday.
Several important decisions were taken during the visit. They instructed that the R&B speed up road improvement and BT works with the amount released by HMR in Metro Rail corridors and with their sanctioned amount on other R&B roads. Similar works by GHMC shall also be expedited on GHMC roads with GHMC funds. The L&T should shrink the barrication widths wherever foundations works are completed and refill the foundation pits especially near Jubilee Hills Checkpost, Peddamma Temple and Madhapur Police Station for enabling R&B department to complete BT works.
The HMR MD has taken a serious view of the delay in L&T works and instructed L&T to expedite foundation works in the narrow areas of Road No.36 and Madhapur road and reduce barrication in the next 4 to 5 days. He also instructed L&T engineers to remove construction equipment from the completed areas, so that more road space is available for traffic movement.
The GHMC Commissioner instructed Chief City Planner and Zonal Commissioner to immediately clear debris and other building construction material on both sides of the road, wherever private building works are going on in Road No.36. The Central median of Road No.36 where there is no barrication has to be spruced up and potted plants shall be put in place by GHMC.
The Water Board officials have been asked to immediately rectify water leakage points, so that the newly laid road does not get damaged. All departments were also asked to ensure that the surrounding roads leading to Metropolis venue are kept in good condition and proper beautification measures are adopted.
HMWSSB MD.Jagadeeshwar, GHMC Special Commissioner Pradyumna, Cyberabad DCP (Traffic) Avinash Mohanty, R&B EnCP.Ravinder Rao, HMR Chief Engineer Md Ziauddin and other senior officers of various departments and engineers of L&T have also participated in the inspection. (INN)
