Uppal police on Thursday arrested a three member gang engaged in bike thefts in the city and recovered more than 14 bikes worth Rs 5.15 lakh from their possession and arrested three persons.
According to police investigators intercepted Vallapu Ashok (32) who is a resident of Ramanthapur in Uppal during routine vehicle check near Uppal bus stop. “He failed to produce supporting documents of the vehicle and tried to escape”, added police officer.
He was then nabbed and brought to the police station. On interrogation, he confessed to have committed similar offences in the past,” the cops said adding that five bikes were recovered from him.
In yet another incident police nabbed Manthipuram Ramulu (40) of Ramanthapur, Sai Krishna (19) of OU campus when they failed to produce the original documents of the vehicle. Nine bikes were recovered from him following their confession.
“The accused were being produced before the court,” Malkajgiri DCP Rama Rajeshwari said.
