Don’t butcher cows and calves, City police on Bakrid

After warning action against those involve in violating the AP Prohibition of Cow Slaughter and Animal Preservation Act during Bakrid celebrations, now the South Zone Police directed the butchers not to sacrifice the animals unless they get a certificate from Veterinary doctors.

According to AP Prohibition of Cow Slaughter and Animal Preservation Act 1977, ‘it is strictly prohibited to sell cows, she buffaloes and calves (calf), which is a crime, an official release said here.

South Zone DCP V Satyanarayana, also counseled the group of more than 70 butchers around Falaknuma circle. He urged the butchers to cooperate with the city police while transporting and selling animals and not to violate the norms.

It is to be noted that this year Ganesh festival is to be celebrated in parallel with Eid-ul-Adha. In view of this, City police have warned of initiating action against wrongdoer.

City police also call upon public to pass all information on 040-27853500 or 100, about transportation of cows or calves. DCP V Satyanarayana, asked people not to take law and order into their hands.

The DCP also said that waste of animals should not be dumped on roads near Ganesh Mandaps, residential areas or Ganesh immersion procession routes, and not to transport cattle in route of Ganesh immersion procession and cattle selling places should not obstruct the procession
