City Police Commissioner M. Mahender Reddy denied reports that appeared in a section of media of stampeded during distribution of Khairtabad Ganesh Prasadam on Friday.
In a clarification, the Commissioner said that the distribution was stopped in view of stampede-like conditions due to heavy turnout of more than 30,000 devotees at Khairthabad Ganesh Prasadam distribution venue. Prasadam was shifted out and packed in bags, five vehicles were procured and Prasadam was dispatched to be distributed in all important temples of twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad.
The Commissioner said that the stampede did not take place at Khairthabad today morning as reported in the media. No one was injured. “When stampede like conditions were prevailing, queue lines were vacated and distribution was stopped,” he said. (INN)
